The Alberta Tennis Centre is offering Full and Half Day March Break Nike Tennis Camp programming from March 26th - 30th in Calgary. These tennis camps will include technical instruction and training for kids of all ages and skill levels in the Osten & Victor state of the art facility.

Meet Camp Coaches

Charlie McLean
Camp Director

Charlie McLean

Charlie McLean is the Tennis Director for the Alberta Tennis Centre and has been a tennis professional for over 25 years experience. He moved from the UK to Canmore in 2005 where he worked in Tennis Development, ran a high performance club and was a coach course facilitator for the Lawn Tennis Association.

Since moving to Canada, charlie has been working mainly in high performance and coach education. He has worked for all western provincial associations in high performance, spent 7 years with Tennis Alberta and most recently with Tennis BC in player development. He has traveled the world for national and international events and coach to players who have won national titles, represented Canada, gold medals in Western and Canada Games, achieved ATP and WTA rankings and copious number of provincial titles.

In 2008, he joined Tennis Canada's coaching development team as head course facilitator for Alberta. Running Instructor and Club Pro 1 courses in province and course facilitator for the Coach 2 course in Toronto. He chaired the national high performance working group and is currently on the advisory committee for the Tennis Professional Association. For a combination of player results and coach education, Charlie was awarded Tennis Alberta's Coach of the Year in 2009.

Charlie holds both level 3 qualifications from the UK, one in high performance and the other in development, he is also a Tennis Canada Coach 3 certified coach.

Greig Ewing

Greig relocated from Scotland to Calgary in April 2017 and began working as a tennis professional at the Alberta Tennis Centre.

As a junior tennis player, Greig played and traveled extensively, securing national championship victories and international honours. After accepting a scholarship to the University of Edinburgh, he graduated from with an honours degree in Physical Education and went on to fulfill a number of roles within the Scottish Education system.

Alongside his wife, Greig spends his time out playing tennis, going skiing and playing golf.

We offer Full Day, Half Day, Morning and Afternoon camp options for kids, ages 4-14, with groupings by age and skill level.  A full list of our camp program offerings and descriptions can be found in the "More Details" section below.

Camp Program Descriptions and Schedules

Our March Break Camps are for players ages 4-14 with a variety of programs designed for various skill levels. Upon arrival, all participants are evaluated by the staff so that their own tennis instruction needs can be addressed throughout the week. Please register your child for a program in their appropriate age bracket. If you wish to enroll your child in a program above their age bracket, you will require a coaches permission prior to starting. Registration remains open for any session until the Friday before camp starts at 12 pm.

Red Ball Tennis Camp

Times: 9-11am and 1pm-3pm

Geared for children between the ages of 4-7 years of age, this mini tennis camp utilizes Tennis Canada’s Progressive Curriculum, using Mini-Tennis equipment and Red Tennis Balls to ensure children’s optimal success. The camp is based on Long Term Athlete Development principles and focuses on skill development, acquiring new tennis skills through a games based approach. Participants will be introduced to fundamental movement skills required for tennis and there will be a strong emphasis on cooperative play as well as technical and tactical development. 

Orange Ball Tennis Camp

Times: 9-11am and 1pm-3pm

Description: Geared for children between the ages of 7-9 years of age, this mini tennis camp utilizes Tennis Canada’s Progressive Curriculum using Mini-Tennis equipment and Orange Tennis Balls to ensure children’s optimal success. The camp is based on Long Term Athlete Development principles and focuses on skill development, acquiring new tennis skills through a games based approach. Participants will be introduced to fundamental movement skills required for tennis and there will be a strong emphasis cooperative play as well as technical and tactical development.

Half Day Green/Yellow Ball 'Tennis + Camp

Times: 9am-12pm and 1pm-4pm

Description: The Tennis + Camp is offered as a half day camp with a morning session from 9:00am - 12:00pm or an afternoon session from 1:00pm - 4:00pm for participants between the ages of 8 - 14. The camp has been designed for participants who would love to improve their tennis skills. This camp will involve a combination of tennis drills, match play sessions, some strength & injury prevention training and conditioning for footwork, speed and agility training whilst also developing the team working, leadership and social skills of participants through alternative activities.

Full Day Green/Yellow Ball Tennis + Camp

Times: 9am-4pm 

Description: The Tennis + Camp is also offered as a full day camp with a morning session from 9:00am - 12:00pm and an afternoon session from 1:00pm - 4:00pm for participants between the ages of 8 - 14. The camp has been designed for participants who would love to improve their tennis skills. This camp will involve a combination of tennis drills, match play sessions, some strength & injury prevention training and conditioning for footwork, speed and agility training while also developing the team working, leadership and social skills of participants through alternative activities.

Nike Tennis Camps instructors are all experienced and trained tennis professionals that are chosen not just for their extensive teaching backgrounds, but also because of their energetic and positive personalities. Most of our instructors have played tennis competitively and/or have varsity experience. In addition, all Nike Tennis Camps instructors are friendly, patient and excited to teach your child. The best sports experience starts with a great instructor and we promise to provide you with skilled and helpful instructors that will guide your child through their training.

The OSTEN & VICTOR Alberta Tennis Centre is a community-based state-of-the-art tennis facility located just off of MacLeod Trail. Our family-friendly tennis Centre is located in the heart of Acadia (Calgary SE) and covers 71,000 square feet over 3.19 acres.

  • 8:45am AM Half Day and Full Day campers arrive
