Jasmine James

My name is Jasmine James and I am a hoop addict! I am a former D1 and professional basketball player and as of now I am building my basketball training/coaching portfolio to share what I have been taught over my athletic career.

I began playing basketball in the ninth grade where I had the opportunity to play on multiple AAU teams throughout high school. I was fortunate enough to attend Nike Tournaments all around states of America which is where I got my most exposure and helped me take off my basketball career. In the 12th grade I received a phone call from the head coaches of San Jacinto Community College in Houston, Texas where I was offered a full ride scholarship. From a small city in Ontario, Canada I decided to explore what basketball had in store for me. Junior College offered me memories that I will never forget including leading the team to the first ever NCJAA National Tournament in school history and being ranked 7th JUCO Power Forward in the country. To finish off my last 2 years I was recruited and finished off at the University of Memphis and received my Bachelor Degree!

After university I had the opportunity to play professionally in Dublin, Ireland with DC Mercy as well as receive a scholarship for my Masters degree. Once school was over I was signed by the Barateras in Zacatecas, Mexico where I played in their summer league 2021.

My goal as a former collegiate and professional player is to bring awareness to athletes about the opportunities that basketball could bring to ones life. Basketball isn’t just a sport, it is a learning experience that brings lessons on and off the court. I want to teach athletes that it’s more than just a game and there are endless possibilities that can come out of it. Not only did it teach me teamwork, hard work and accountability but it taught me mentally how to prepare for my future which is one of my most prized takeaways from the game. It also allowed me to build life long relationships with teammates, coaches and others I’ve met from traveling the world! Something that I will forever be grateful for as it is still allowing me to share, teach, collaborate, learn and grow from others.
