Nike Basketball Camp at Camp Wahanowin Orillia

Nike Basketball Camp is offering one week of overnight basketball training at Camp Wahanowin this summer. The overnight camp is designed to challenge players mentally and physically to grow their understanding and skills in the game of basketball. Open to boys and girls ages 10 - 16, from June 30 to July 8, 2022, players will experience specialized basketball training from our team of coaches and former pro athletes. With 5 specialized basketball training sessions daily, a catered meal plan to fuel you through the day, plus time for swimming and traditional camp activities, this overnight camp will give you the tools to succeed as a young athlete.

Jey-son Edwards
Coach

Jey-son Edwards is an NCCP Certified Level 2 and Basketball USA Gold Licensed Coach who has been coaching for over 15 years. He is a passionate student and teacher of the game, with a focus on contributing to the long-term development of athletes. A graduate of Wilfried Laurier University (Ontario, Canada) and Fanshawe College, Jey-son has enjoyed many successes as a shooting guard at the CIS and OUA levels. After graduation, Jey-son continued to devote much of his time to developing aspiring basketball players. He’s coached a variety of basketball teams across the country, including the Northern Secondary School Senior Girls (Toronto, Canada), River East C.I. Senior Girls Basketball (Winnipeg MB). In addition to high school coaching Jey-son has been a member of the Toronto Raptors Ambassador Team, coached AAU and Rep Teams for over 10 years, participated as a coach with PGC College and at Olympia Sports Camp.

We were very lucky to have Chef Chris Lakiotis run the Wahanowin kitchen for 45 years. Known for the quality and quantity of its fine cuisine throughout the camping community. Our delicious and nutritious meals are planned in accordance with the Canadian Food Guide, which satisfies every campers’ tastes.

Basketball Skill Development

What happens at camp on rainy days?

At camp, we play rain or shine. Many of our activities can be adapted to indoor venues. We have access to eight large recreation halls for group games, as well as a camp competitions, movies, and lectures in addition to  an indoor campfire program.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

We want players to experience enjoyment and a sense of accomplishment that comes from skill development and the pursuit of excellence. As a result, we are committed to providing players with the skills and tools to achieve their goals.

CAMPER EVALUATION

Upon arrival, all participants are evaluated by the staff so that their own instructional needs can be addressed throughout the week. In addition, campers will be evaluated and then split up into smaller groups according to age and ability.

REGISTRATION PACKET

A detailed camper registration packet containing check-in location, camp specifics, and a list of things to bring, will be emailed to all campers prior to their camp date.  If you have any questions/inquiries please email info@sportscampscanada.com.
