Nike Volleyball Camp Pickering (Evening Program)

Register For Camp

Nike Volleyball Camps is excited to offer a variety of opportunities at the Jungle Courts in Pickering  in the summer of 2021. Campers will train with talented and experienced coaches with a focus on both fun and skill development.

Players of all skill levels are invited to register for one or more of our two types of programs.  Those with weeknight availability may choose a Tuesday or Thursday evening program for the entire summer, and those with daytime availability may choose a Monday-Friday, morning or afternoon program in selected weeks.  All programs are divided into Intermediate (Grades 6-8 or 11-13 years of age) and Senior (Grades 9-12 or 14-17 years of age).

The Pickering Nike Volleyball Camp prepares athletes for competition at the highest level.  Training will be led by volleyball coaches Andrew Ming and Jason Haggerty. Alongside with their staff, they will provide instruction to meet the needs of the individual to improve their skills and enjoyment of the game.  Their experience working with players from the grassroots level, to those becoming recognized in the OUA and OCAA, guarantees a fun yet challenging opportunity for participants to be reminded of the fundamentals, compete strategically, and strengthen mental toughness.

Camp Highlights

  • Elite technical training
  • Individual assessment of skills and goal-oriented skill growth
  • Position-specific training, but everyone needs to know how to set!
  • Nike Volleyball Camps T-shirt and prizes!

Coaches

Andrew Ming
Co-Director

Andrew is the Co-director / Coach of Nike Volleyball Camp Pickering. Andrew’s love for coaching began during his secondary school years when he volunteered as coach for his school’s junior boys and senior girls’ teams. While pursuing both Kinesiology and Education degrees, he continued coaching at local high schools in Hamilton and Scarborough. Currently, as a secondary school teacher of health & physical education, guidance and science for 23 years, he has celebrated many championships (and even more silver medals) at regional and district levels, along with multiple appearances at the OFSAA Championships. Many of his student-athletes moved on to post-secondary volleyball to achieve greatness at the OCAA and OUA levels. As a coach in the OVA, he has been fortunate to experience immediate success at developmental age levels. He attributes this success in part, to his volunteer experience at OVA Spikes programs and clinics, and undergraduate courses in child growth and motor development, biomechanics, advanced coaching and sport psychology. As a player, he has competed in both the OVA and the NACIVT (North American Chinese Invitational Volleyball Tournament). Outside of volleyball, he also has coaching experience in rugby, basketball, cricket, track & field, and is a former programmer of Playgrounds & Playschools for the former Scarborough Parks, Recreation and Culture summer services department. He is a recent SPN Slo-Pitch provincial champion and practices mindfulness through yoga.
