The Aboriginal Sport & Wellness Council in partnership with N7 will provide athletes from the community an opportunity to develop their skill and build capacity within 2 sporting events that the community has decided as a priority. Our goal is to provide opportunities but also to develop and prepare athletes for high level performance.

Sports Camps Canada is excited to launch these camps. The Aboriginal Sport and Wellness Council of Ontario & Nike N7 camps mission is to provide opportunities for our young people that will foster and enhance skill development in sports and recreation.

Brenden Biedermann

Brenden has been involved in sports & recreation, as a participant and a program developer pretty much his entire life. He currently works for the Moose Cree First Nation as a Community Recreation Activator where his main task is to provide sports & recreation programs for my community.

Brenden is also a co-owner and facilitator the Hockey Camp of Hope & Aboriginal Development Hockey Camp. Like most Canadians much of his winter months have been spent in the hockey rink playing or organizing hockey events. While hockey can be seen as his main interest, he thoroughly enjoys participating in all types of sport and recreational programs.

Few things have the power to bring people together like sport. Victory is contagious. Defeat unites. And the concept of team – all sharing the same goal – creates an unbreakable bond among teammates, a community, even an entire nation. Sport has the power to change lives.

Camp Curriculum

Basketball – Fundamentals, Passing, Dribbling, Defence, Shooting, Team Building, Individual Instructing

Volleyball – Fundamentals, setting, bumping, spiking serving, rules, fun games

Soccer – Fundamentals, dribbling, passing, receiving, agility, balance and coordination

Great Lakes Cultural Session – Team building, cultural teachings, traditional knowledge, traditional games, cultural concepts

Sample Daily Schedule

  • 9:30am Bus transportation to gymnasium venue
  • 10:00am Volleyball – ice breakers/games, warm up, fundamentals (setting, bumping, serving)
  • 11:30am Bus Transportation to soccer venue (if indoors)
  • 11:40am Soccer – fundamentals (passing, receiving, dribbling, shooting, positioning, fun games)
  • 1:10pm Lunch Break (Lunch is provided)
  • 2:30pm Basketball – fundamentals (passing, dribbling, defence, shooting, fun games)
  • 4:00pm Snack Break
  • 5:30pm Cultural Activity
  • 6:30pm Dinner (Dinner is provided)
  • 8:00pm Camp Ends
