Friday nights are for football - come learn, compete, build confidence, and have FUN!

Nike Football Camp and Coach Keon Raymond of Big Time Players are back with another season of Friday Night Tykes, which is an exciting 7-week football development program designed for young athletes ages 4–10 to learn, develop, and compete in a fun, energetic, and positive environment. Every Friday night, athletes will build their skills through age-appropriate training focused on speed and agility, throwing, catching, footwork, route running, defensive movement, coordination, and football IQ through fun games.

What sets Friday Night Tykes apart is our focus on developing the whole athlete. Players will build confidence, teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship, and a love for the game while learning proper football fundamentals. Whether your child is picking up a football for the first time or already has playing experience, our coaches will meet them at their skill level and challenge them to improve through high-energy stations, competitions, and game-like activities.

Friday Night Tykes is scheduled on Fridays from October 9 - November 20 (7 weeks) and will run from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. This timing may be convenient for parents and children to participate in football activities after school or work. Overall, Friday Night Tykes is a valuable opportunity for children to engage in physical activity, learn teamwork, and develop important life skills while having fun playing football.

Keyon Raymond | Co-Founder of Big Time Players

Head Coach Keon Raymond is a two-time Grey Cup Champion, once in 2008 and the other in 2014, who spent ten years playing in the Canadian Football League. In addition to his Championship wins, Raymond was also a two-time recipient of the President’s Ring, which is decided on by fellow Calgary Stampeder teammates in recognition of excellence on the field, in conjunction with leadership, and inspirational and motivational skills. He was also the recipient of the Athletes in Action Gord Barwell Award for leadership, and his demonstration of faith both on the field and in the community.

Following his football career, Keon Raymond become involved with public speaking. Through personal experience in his early life, and the relationship he shared with is mother, Raymond began working with the Alberta Council of Women’s Shelters, where he speaks on how to manage fear and overcome adversity.  Keon Raymond continues his pursuit to grow the game of football in Canada, where he has started his Big Time 7v7 football program.  This program focus on the non-contact, elite skill development of football and players compete at a high level.

Keon Raymond now lives in Calgary with his wife, Bianca, and their four children. The Raymond family has remained actively involved with local not-for-profit organizations, as well as developing K25 Sports, a youth sports organization whose programs aim to build character, self-confidence, and sportsmanship in tomorrow’s leaders. Both on the field and off, Raymond maintains his ability to lead with courage, and speak on tough issues through his foundationary principles of faith, family, and football.

Friday Night Tykes – Camp Details & Programming

Ages: (4–6) (7-10)

Program Length: 7 Weeks

Day: Friday NightsTime: 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM

Session Length: 90 Minutes

Friday Night Tykes is a progressive football development program that combines football fundamentals, athletic development, competition, and FUN.

Athletes will be grouped by age and ability so that drills and coaching can be adjusted to their stage of development.

Throughout the seven weeks, athletes will work on coordination, balance, speed, agility, footwork, throwing, catching, ball carrying, route running, defensive movement, flag pulling, and football IQ.

Players will also be introduced to flag football through small-sided games and competitive situations that teach spacing, teamwork, offense, defense, and decision-making.

Athletes will also learn the fundamentals of safe tackling through age-appropriate, controlled instruction.

Coaches will emphasize proper body position, tracking, leverage, breakdown position, and tackling technique before progressing athletes based on age, ability, and readiness.

Typical Friday Night Schedule

6:00–6:10 PM | Dynamic Warm-Up & Movement: Fun movement activities emphasizing coordination, balance, mobility, and body control.

6:10–6:25 PM | Speed, Agility & Footwork: Acceleration, change of direction, reaction drills, quick feet, balance, and athletic movement.

6:25–6:50 PM | Football Skill Stations: Athletes rotate through stations covering throwing, catching, ball carrying, route running, defensive movement, flag pulling, and position-specific fundamentals.

6:50–7:05 PM | Football Fundamentals & Safe Tackling Development: Age-appropriate instruction covering football IQ, offensive and defensive concepts, proper body positioning, tracking, leverage, and safe tackling fundamentals.

7:05–7:25 PM | Flag Football & Competition: Small-sided flag football games, 1-on-1 challenges, relays, and team competitions give athletes an opportunity to use their new skills in game-like situations.

7:25–7:30 PM | Team Wrap-Up: Coaches reinforce the day's lessons, recognize effort and improvement, and finish with a team breakdown.

7-Week Development Progression

Each week builds on the previous session. Athletes progress from movement and coordination → football fundamentals → position skills → safe tackling technique → offense and defense → flag football concepts → live competition and game play.

The goal is simple: help every young athlete leave the program **more coordinated, more confident, more knowledgeable about football, and more excited to play the game.
