At OverTop Athletics, the mission is to provide young athletes with high-quality coaching, a positive environment, and opportunities to grow both on and off the court. OverTop believes in combining technical skill development with confidence-building, leadership, teamwork, and a love for sport. Their coaches focus on creating an encouraging and challenging atmosphere where athletes can develop at their own pace while learning the habits that lead to long-term success.
Saskatchewan has a rich history of developing talented volleyball and basketball athletes, and OverTop Athletics wants to help continue that tradition. OverTop Athletics was founded with the belief that Saskatchewan athletes deserve access to exceptional coaching and development opportunities. The goal is to create more opportunities for young athletes to access quality coaching close to home, build confidence, and pursue their athletic goals. By expanding from OverTop Volley into OverTop Hoops, the OvertTop team hopes to make a positive impact on even more athletes and contribute to the continued growth of sport throughout the province.
Partnering with Sports Camps Canada allows OverTop Athletics to expand its reach and provide even greater access to elite-style training. “This partnership brings our philosophy to a wider community and gives athletes a high-quality, inspiring environment backed by Nike [Sports Camps Canada],” the coaches said.
OverTop Athletics is excited to bring a first-of-its-kind Nike Basketball Camp experience to Saskatoon while launching their new basketball division, OverTop Hoops. OverTop Athletics has spent years helping volleyball athletes develop through OverTop Volley, and are thrilled to now provide the same high-quality coaching and training opportunities to basketball players across Saskatchewan. Most importantly, they're looking forward to connecting athletes with outstanding coaches and helping them prepare for their upcoming school and club seasons.
The upcoming basketball program represents the beginning of an exciting new chapter for OverTop Athletics. Not only is it the first Nike Basketball Camp of its kind in Saskatoon, but athletes will also have the opportunity to learn directly from Carly Ahlstrom, one of the most accomplished players in Saskatchewan basketball history. Our goal is to create an environment that combines elite instruction, skill development, and mentorship while helping athletes gain an early advantage heading into tryouts and competition season.
OverTop Volley was founded on a belief that underdog athletes can rise to extraordinary heights with the right support. That philosophy reflects the journeys of the coaching team itself. Dylan Mortensen went from practice player to Canadian National Team member and became U SPORTS’ all-time kills and points leader. Levi Olson walked on twice, earned a Canada West All-Star title, and gained pro experience in the German Bundesliga. Mackenzie Mortensen excelled as an NCAA Division II setter known for leadership and consistency. Their shared resilience and passion shape a program rooted in empowerment and development.
At camp, athletes can expect focused, supportive, growth-oriented coaching. Sessions blend purposeful drills with competitive games that keep energy high and development sharp. Every camper receives individualized attention, especially those who may feel overlooked or underestimated. “We want every athlete to leave knowing they’re capable of more than they realized,” the OverTop team shared.
The team sees their camps as a powerful force for the Saskatchewan community. With a small population but unmatched drive, they believe local athletes deserve the same opportunities as those in larger centers. By developing confident, resilient players, the impact extends to local teams and the broader volleyball community.
OverTop Volley looks forward to meeting new athletes across the province and helping them push past limits. Their guiding message is simple: talent can come from anywhere, and hard work can take athletes to the biggest stages.
