2025 Nike Basketball Clinic at Valley Creek School Calgary

Back for FALL 2025, Join Keon Raymond, founder of The K25 Sports, at Valley Creek School in Calgary for a six week Nike Basketball Clinic from October 18 - November 22, 2025. This training program will help you work on improving your strength and conditioning, team play skills, and fundamentals. This weekend basketball program is for boys and girls ages 6-14 (with 2 separate age groups), and welcomes players of all skill levels.

Complete Skills Program helps players of all abilities develop athletically, refine fundamental basketball skills and enhance their skill set at the post, wing or guard position.

Program Outline:

Skill Development Foundations – Ball-handling, footwork, shooting form, finishing moves, passing accuracy, and defensive stance/footwork.    

Game Play & Situations – 1-on-1, 3-on-3, and full-court scrimmages to apply skills in real game scenarios.

Specialty Drills – Shooting challenges, dribble relays, rebounding/boxing-out drills, and decision-making under pressure.

Athletic Training & Fun Competitions – Speed, agility, and conditioning drills, plus skills competitions (free throw contest, 3-point challenge, knockout).

Teamwork & Leadership Focus – Communication, sportsmanship, and confidence-building activities both on and off the court.

Keon Raymond
Coach

Head Coach Keon Raymond is a two-time Grey Cup Champion, once in 2008 and the other in 2014, who spent ten years playing in the Canadian Football League. In addition to his Championship wins, Raymond was also a two-time recipient of the President’s Ring, which is decided on by fellow Calgary Stampeder teammates in recognition of excellence on the field, in conjunction with leadership, and inspirational and motivational skills. He was also the recipient of the Athletes in Action Gord Barwell Award for leadership, and his demonstration of faith both on the field and in the community.

Following his football career, Keon Raymond become involved with public speaking. Through personal experience in his early life, and the relationship he shared with is mother, Raymond began working with the Alberta Council of Women’s Shelters, where he speaks on how to manage fear and overcome adversity.  Keon Raymond continues his pursuit to grow the game of football in Canada, where he has started his Big Time 7v7 football program.  This program focus on the non-contact, elite skill development of football and players compete at a high level.

Keon Raymond now lives in Calgary with his wife, Bianca, and their four children. The Raymond family has remained actively involved with local not-for-profit organizations, as well as developing K25 Sports, a youth sports organization whose programs aim to build character, self-confidence, and sportsmanship in tomorrow’s leaders. Both on the field and off, Raymond maintains his ability to lead with courage, and speak on tough issues through his foundationary principles of faith, family, and football.

Week 1: Fundamentals & Foundation

  • Ball-handling basics (stationary dribbling, control with both hands)
  • Shooting form and layup technique    
  • Passing fundamentals (chest, bounce, overhead)    
  • Agility ladder & footwork drills    
  • Team-building icebreaker games

Week 2: Shooting & Scoring

  • Spot shooting, catch-and-shoot, free throws
  • Finishing at the rim (euro step, reverse layups for advanced players)
  • Pick-and-roll basics
  • Shooting competitions (knockout, hot spot shooting)
  • Conditioning with fun relay races

Week 3: Defense & Rebounding

  • Defensive stance, sliding, closeouts
  • On-ball and help defense concepts
  • Rebounding technique (boxing out, outlet passing)
  • 1-on-1 defensive drills
  • Scrimmage with focus on defense

Week 4: Game Situations & IQ

  • Transition offense/defense drills
  • Spacing and movement without the ball
  • Passing under pressure & decision-making drills
  • 3-on-3 half-court games
  • Film/whiteboard session (age-appropriate, short and interactive)

Week 5: Advanced Skills & Competition

  • Combination dribbling moves (crossover, spin, hesitation)
  • Shooting off the dribble and screens
  • Post moves for guards and forwards
  • Skills competitions (3-point contest, free throw challenge, king of the court)
  • Full-court scrimmages

Week 6: Camp Showcase & Championship Day

  • Review of key skills learned
  • Team tournaments (5-on-5 games)
  • Skills challenge obstacle course
  • Awards & recognition (MVP, hustle award, most improved)
  • Fun wrap-up & group celebration
