DIRECTOR SPOTLIGHT: Kurt Downes

As a dedicated and seasoned running coach, Kurt Downes from Border City Athletics Club (based in Windsor, Ontario) brings a wealth of experience and a true passion for helping runners of all levels reach their full potential and is committed to inspiring and guiding individuals towards their fitness and performance goals.

As of recent, Coach Kurt has been inducted into the Alumni Sports Hall of Fame at the University of Windsor Department of Athletics as well as being a Sport Achievement Honouree.

Some of Coach Kurt's achievements include:

• Creating and founding Border City Athletics Club (BCAC). Border City Athletics club is an athletics club tailored to enhance athletic performance and is a not-for-profit organization.

• Represented Canada as a staff coach at a number of international events including: the World Athletics Championships 2022, the Tokyo Olympics 2020, IAAF World Athletics Championship 2019, Pan American Senior Championships 2019, NACAC Senior Championships 2018, IAAF World Championship 2017, Pan-American Junior Championships 2015, IAAF World Youth Championships 2013, IAAF World Junior Championships 2012.

• ChPC – Charter Professional Coach, IAAF Academy (Level 5), NCCP Comp Dev Coach
