Winter 2026 Nike Kids Tennis Camp at Topzpin Saskatoon

Give your child the best start in tennis with our Progressive Youth Red/Orange Ball Tennis Program!

Designed specifically for young players, this camp uses age-appropriate red and orange balls, smaller courts, and progressive equipment to make tennis easier to learn, more exciting to play, and more rewarding from day one.

Rather than simply hitting balls in lines, players will learn through a combination of skill-building activities, movement challenges, cooperative rallies, fun games, and point play. Our progressive approach helps participants develop proper fundamentals including racquet control, forehands, backhands, serves, volleys, movement, court awareness, rallying, and basic match play.

Players will be grouped and challenged according to their age, experience, and ability, allowing beginners to build confidence while returning players continue developing their consistency, strategy, and overall game. As skills improve, players progress from Red Ball toward Orange Ball tennis, preparing them for larger courts, faster balls, and the next stage of their tennis development.

Our goal is simple: help kids learn to rally, play points, understand the game, build confidence, and most importantly, develop a lifelong love of tennis.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

  • Progressive Red & Orange Ball Development – Age-appropriate balls, court sizes, and equipment help players learn faster and build confidence.
  • Learn Through Games & Rallying – Fun activities, cooperative rallies, and point play keep players moving and engaged.
  • Build Strong Tennis Fundamentals – Develop forehands, backhands, serves, volleys, movement, racquet control, and court awareness.
  • Skill-Based Progression – Players are challenged according to their experience and ability, from first-time beginners to developing players.

Directors / Coaches

Lester Esteban
Camp Director

Head Coach, Registered Coach NCCP #6510665

Lester “Coach Les” Esteban has spent more than 35 years around racquet sports, beginning as a tennis player and coach while still in his teens. What started as a lifelong love of tennis eventually expanded into pickleball and a passion for introducing the next generation to racquet sports.

Les is a Certified Level 2 Pickleball Canada Instructor and Pickleball Canada Course Facilitator, as well as a Tennis Canada Certified Instructor, Wheelchair Tennis Instructor, USTA Cardio Tennis Facilitator, and Table Tennis Canada Community Program Facilitator. He is also a former Director of Pickleball Canada, DUPR Club Director and Selkirk Advocate.

Beyond the court, Les spent 10 years working within the Saskatoon Public School Division, giving him extensive experience working with children and youth in an educational environment. That background continues to shape his coaching philosophy today: create a positive environment, make learning fun, build confidence, and give every young athlete an opportunity to succeed.

As co-founder of TopZpin Hitlabs, Les is passionate about building a sustainable pathway for junior pickleball. Young athletes can begin by discovering the sport, develop their skills through structured programming, progress into TopZpin’s Future Aces competitive development program, and eventually compete in youth Minor League Pickleball (MiLP).

For Coach Les, the goal is bigger than teaching young athletes how to hit a pickleball. It is about helping them discover a sport they can enjoy for life while giving those who want to compete the coaching, opportunities, and pathway to see just how far they can take their game.
