Nike Rugby Camps – Learn, Play, and Grow

Give your young player an unforgettable rugby experience this Summer! Our Nike Rugby Camps are designed to build skills, confidence, and a lifelong love for the game. Through fun, fast-paced sessions led by qualified coaches, players will learn essential rugby techniques, teamwork, and leadership — both on and off the pitch. Each camp blends skill development with adaptive games and challenges that keep every session engaging.

Players also get the chance to learn the latest Rugby Age Grade Laws and Regulations, ensuring they’re ready to take their game to the next level next season. Join us during either week (or both), for a week of learning, fun, and friendship in a supportive and energetic environment!

Greg Armstrong
Camp Director

Camp Director: Greg Armstrong

Born in Cape Town, South Africa, Greg Armstrong brings a wealth of international rugby experience to our coaching staff. Born in the land of the Springboks, Greg competed on the global stage, proudly representing Canada clubs across Portugal, Uruguay, France, England, Scotland, and Wales.

Primarily a scrum half—while also stepping into the fly half role when needed—Greg’s dynamic field vision, technical precision, and leadership have defined his playing career and continue to shape his coaching philosophy today.

Greg transitioned into coaching after his touring side career, contributing to player development at the provincial level in Ontario. He served on the Ontario Provincial Coaching Staff for the U14 Boys teams in 2012 and 2013, and continued his impact with the U15 Boys program in 2014.

With deep roots in the sport and a global perspective shaped by his playing journey, Greg is committed to fostering excellence, teamwork, and growth in every athlete he works with.

Marcus O'Neill
Coach

Coach Bio - Marcus O’Neill

Marcus brings a wealth of experience to camp, with an extensive background in both coaching and playing across the UK and Canada. His coaching experience spans youth, school, and senior-level programs, including roles within, High School, Club, Provincial, Regional, and County teams in Canada and the U.K.

As a player, Marcus has experienced much success in the 15’s, 10’s and 7’s formats of the game, representing teams at the club, county, and regional level in 15’s, along with invitational 7’s and 10’s teams. In addition, Marcus has recently represented the Canada Grizzlies Masters Rugby League team.

As a physical education specialist, Marcus’s coaching philosophy is focused around developing young athletes’ knowledge, skills and understanding of the game to enhance their on field performances.

CAMP DETAILS

  • Please note: this camp will take place indoors on the indoor turf field within the Canada Athletic Performance Centre

SAMPLE WEEKLY SCHEDULE

Monday – Game fundamentals

  • Kick off the week with core rugby skills of handling. Finish with exciting small-sided activities that test your new skills.

Tuesday – Contact Skill Development

  • Build upon your new handling skills before honing your contact skills within tackling, rucks and mauls.

Wednesday – Teamwork & Strategy

  • Develop your tactical awareness through a range of exercises designed to test your new skills. Learn how to read the game, build strategy, and apply it in competition.

Thursday – Kicking for success

  • Learn different styles of kicking — from grubbers to drop kicks — then put your new skills into action with game play.
  • Develop an understanding of tactical kicking and when to utilise your new skills in match situations.

Friday – Competition Day!

  • End the week on a high with friendly competition! Review your progress, warm up as a team, and take part in a round-robin tournament that promotes sportsmanship, confidence, and fun.

Week 2 will build upon the previous week’s activities with a focus towards the 7-a-side version of the game.
