Windsor Essex County…who has the fastest 40 yard time in #TheCity? Nike Running Speed/Power Clinic at The City AC is for young athletes who want to learn the fundamentals of sprinting while also giving them a sense of what is it like to train/compete in high school and at the collegiate level. This clinic offers top fundamental skills training while fostering a safe, inclusive, and competitive environment. Participants will receive expert coaching and instruction from college and professional level coaches, as well as the opportunity to experience a variety of training concepts.

Classroom lectures on current running issues include exercise physiology, plyometrics, strength training, injury prevention, establishing goals, visualizing success, training shoe and training technique, and nutrition.

Featuring NCAA and World Class Coaches: Kebba Tolbert - Harvard (Former Coach of NCAA 200m Record Holder Gabby Thomas), Diego Flaquer - Ohio State (NFL WR - Tyrek Hill), Chris Best - Eastern Michigan University (U23 NACAC Gold Medalist Calum Robinson), Kurt Downes - Border City AC (Assistant Sprints/Relay Coach Tokyo Olympics 2020 & World Athletics Championships Oregon 2022).

Kebba Tolbert

Kebba Tolbert is in his 12th season as the women’s sprints/hurdles and horizontal jumps coach for Harvard in 2022-23 and 11th as associate head coach of the squad.Tolbert has coached 3 athletes to IAAF World Championships semifinals, as well representing their countries at Pan-Am Games, IAAF Continental Cup, European Cup, African Championships, and the Olympic Games. He has coached numerous athletes to school, conference, regional and national records. In all, he has coached athletes to over 100-All American Awards. Tolbert currently serves as an advisory board member and instructor for USTFCCCA Coaches Academy and works extensively with USATF Women’s Sprints Development program and USATF Coaches Education programs. Tolbert mentored sprinter Gabby Thomas, who became the first Ivy League women's sprinter to win an indoor national championship in the 200m, setting a new collegiate record with her 22.38 mark in the final event heat of the NCAA Division Indoor Track and Field Championships at Texas A&M

Chris Best

The 2022-23 season will mark the Chris Best’s third as an associate head coach and ninth overall as a member of the Eastern Michigan coaching staff.Best helped develop and mentor Brittni Mason, who individually earned silver in the 100m (11.97) and 200m (25.00) at the 2020 Paralympics Games. Additionally, Mason helped Team USA take home the gold in the first-ever 4x100 Universal relay. At the MAC Outdoor Championships, the 4x100m relay team earned gold for the sixth-straight season under Best’s leadership. Additionally, Mair Edwards became EMU’s first 400m champion since 2017, while four Eagles scored points in the 200m race. At the indoor league meet, Best’s 4x400m relay crew took first while Edwards finished third in the 400m competition. Under Best, the EMU women’s track & field program has thrived, winning four indoor Mid-American Conference Championships (2014-15, 2015-16, 2017-18, 2019-20). Best also assisted the team to both indoor and outdoor MAC Championships in 2015-16, helping secure the team’s first Triple Crown in school history.

Diego Flaquer

Flaquer joins the Ohio State staff following six seasons as the assistant men’s coach for sprints, hurdles, and relays at the University of Miami. Flaquer coached two of the best sprinters UM has ever had as they posted the second-fastest and third-fastest times in program history in the 100m and earned all-conference honors. He also coached the men’s school record holders in the 60m in Raheem Chambers, the indoor 200m, Khamal Stewart Baynes, and McKinley Brown, who is both a school record holder and the reigning ACC Champion in the 400m hurdles. The men’s 4x400m relay squad made an NCAA regional appearance each of Flaquer’s years at Miami and broke both the indoor and outdoor records. Flaquer’s squad posted many of the top-five times in program history under his direction. Flaquer has coached three athletes under 6.60 seconds in the 60m, five under 10.1 seconds in the 100m and five under 20.50 in the 200m.

Upon arrival, all participants are evaluated by the staff so that their own instructional needs can be addressed throughout the week. In addition, campers will be evaluated and then split up into smaller groups according to age and ability.
