Lil' Champs is a soccer development academy with a strong emphasis on developing fundamental soccer skills. We offer age-specific training through five distinct age groups:

  • Mini Champs (Parent & Child Class – 18 months–14 months) – Early soccer introduction with a play-based approach.
  • Rookie Champs (Parent & Child Class – 2.5–4 years) – Foundational skills and motor development.
  • Junior Champs (5–6 years old) – Skill-building in a fun, engaging environment.
  • Pro Champs (7–9 years old) – Advanced technical techniques and teamwork.
  • All-Star Champs (10–14 years old) – Refining skills with a focus on tactics, technique, confidence, and sportsmanship.

Join one of the GTA’s most exciting child youth soccer development programs at the Nike Soccer Program powered by Lil’ Champs! Our all-year-round indoor soccer program at Woodbridge Sports Dome is designed for boys and girls ages 18 months to 14 years old and focuses on building confidence, developing technical skills, encouraging teamwork, creating a lifelong love for the game and all within the child development focus of using the game of soccer. This program consists of attending one class per week, 50 minutes long, of action-packed child development soccer focus.

Nike Lil’ Champs provides a high-energy, safe, positive learning environment where players of all skill levels can learn and grow. From first-time players taking their first steps onto the field to experienced athletes looking to sharpen their technical abilities, every session is designed to challenge, motivate, and inspire young players.

Our experienced & trained coaching staff follows an age-appropriate curriculum and fun, engaging activities to help players improve ball mastery, coordination, movement, passing, shooting, game awareness, and overall athletic development. We believe children learn best when they are having fun, building confidence, and feeling supported. Our program curriculum is for ages 18 months to 14 years old, and this program has been developed over the years by a Canadian Soccer Concacaf qualified B-level coach and many school teachers over many years.

With open enrollment and automatic prorated pricing, families can join the program at any point during the season. Our all-year-round program runs 4 sessions throughout the year, with a yearly membership cost which includes a Nike Uniform, Nike Sling Bag and Nike Water Bottle.

Directors / Coaches

Matt Zaikos
Camp Director

Matt Zaikos and the Nike Lil’ Champs coaching staff are committed to creating an energetic, supportive, and development-focused soccer experience for every player.

Matt Zaikos has been coaching soccer in Australia, USA, and Canada for over 11 years now. He has coached at many local clubs around the GTA and has helped many young athletes into the Toronto FC Academy program, NDC Program and Provincial Program. He has run many camps in Indiana and Ohio. Matt has also helped coach both the women’s and men’s goalkeepers at Brock University. In addition to coaching, Zaikos serves as the starting goalkeeper and captain of the Darby League 1 Men’s team for 6 years now and has been named as one of the top goalkeepers in the league. Matt has played professionally in Australia, and has also represented Team Canada in Taiwan in the FISU Summer University Games and also helped Team Canada qualify for the AMF Futsal World Cup in Mexico. He also played 3 years in USA on a NCAA scholarship before finishing and graduating from Brock University and leading the league in saves and named top goalkeeper in OUA. He is currently the Queen's University Soccer Coach and the Whitby FC GK Director.

Zaikos holds a National Youth Canada Soccer GK License, Ontario Soccer Goalkeeper Coaching Certificate,  NSCAA Goalkeeping Coaching Certificate and his Concacaf B License.

PROGRAM STREAMS

Mini Champs (18 Months–2.5 Years) - Parent|Child Class

Focus: Introduction to soccer through play-based learning and early athletic development.

This is a parent-and-child program that introduces young athletes to soccer in a fun, positive, and engaging environment. Sessions focus on movement, coordination, balance, confidence-building, and early social interaction while encouraging a love for physical activity.

Curriculum Includes:

  • Basic ball familiarity (touching, rolling, kicking)
  • Parent & child interactive games
  • Motor skill development (running, jumping, balance)
  • Fun obstacle courses & mini-games
  • Coordination and movement activities
  • Early athletic development through play

Rookie Champs (2.5–4 Years)

Focus: Foundational soccer skills, coordination, and confidence-building.

Curriculum Includes:

  • Dribbling basics (stopping, changing direction)
  • Simple passing & shooting games
  • Agility exercises using cones and ladders
  • Balance and coordination activities
  • Small-sided scrimmages
  • Introduction to teamwork and game awareness

Junior Champs (5–6 Years)

Focus: Skill-building in a structured yet fun environment.

This stream introduces players to core soccer fundamentals while helping them develop confidence, teamwork, and game understanding. Sessions are designed to maximize participation, touches on the ball, and enjoyment of the game.

Curriculum Includes:

  • Proper dribbling & ball control techniques
  • Passing & receiving basic fundamentals
  • Shooting technique and finishing
  • Introduction to positions & teamwork
  • Small-sided games with basic rules
  • Ball mastery and coordination development

Pro Champs (7–9 Years)

Focus: Technical development, decision-making, and tactical awareness.

Structured development sessions help players refine their technical abilities while improving confidence, creativity, and understanding of the game. Players are challenged through engaging activities and competitive gameplay.

Curriculum Includes:

  • Advanced dribbling moves
  • Passing accuracy & first-touch control
  • Shooting form & power development
  • Tactical passing & movement off the ball
  • Small-sided scrimmages and game scenarios

All-Star Champs (10–14 Years)

Focus: Advanced technical training, game awareness, and overall player development.

This age group is designed to challenge athletes while maintaining a positive and motivating environment. Players continue developing technical ability, tactical awareness, speed of play, leadership, and confidence on the field.

Curriculum Includes:

  • Advanced ball mastery & 1v1 moves
  • Advanced technical skills (shooting, passing, dribbling)
  • Tactical passing
  • Positional awareness and tactical concepts
  • Competitive scrimmages and match scenarios
  • Leadership, teamwork, and sportsmanship development

Who: Boys & Girls Ages 18 Months–14 Years (classes divided by age brackets)

Session Length: 50 Minutes | one class a week

Cost: $25.00 per class
